My friends from high school(:

My friends from high school(:

Summer of 2008. I was about to start my senior year of high school, I had just dumped my psychopath boyfriend of two years, I had the coolest friends in school (at least I thought so), the infamous side bangs, and The Weeks had just released their album Comeback Cadillac - with the track they are most famous for - Buttons.

This track easily holds spot 9 or 10 in my "favorites" playlist; it's so perfect to rock out to. When I listen to this song I get that feeling of being invincible with all of the freedom and not a care in the world.

It's strange to think about how different things were six years ago. Now I have a job, and a salary, and benefits, and a ten key... gross. But, every time I hear Buttons I go right back to being seventeen with my mixed CD album art, giant black stereo, and all.

I saw The Weeks at Forecastle Festival this summer and they were amazing! Sam made out with Cyle on stage and then the whole crowd turned into one big giant boner. Guess what song they were playing when that happened...

Not to mention, The Weeks are SOOO much better live. I love bands like that because you don't know what you're going to get but when you get it you're ready to rage your face off (I raged my face off).

They remade Buttons on their new EP released this year but I'm pretty sure I'll always be partial to the original one. #Thatsongwhen Sam and Cyle made out. The new EP also has the track in the video above (Mercury) and a remake of Hold it Kid.
