new music tuesday

A week or so ago I went into Guestroom Records to see if they had the new Vance Joy album Dream Your Life Away. Unfortunately, they did not so I asked the clerk if he had any good new music recommendations (he always does). He told me Alvvays was "The best new band of the summer." I stayed and listened to a couple tracks of their album but couldn't really bring myself to agree with him.

I ended up buying a couple records I had been wanting for a while and then left to go get dinner with the fam. I met them at this BBQ restaurant that didn't have ANY veggie options (I'm vegetarian) so, naturally I just sat and watched my carnivorous brother and sisters gobble down smoked corpses.

Oddly enough, I had this catchy tune in my head... "hey hey, marry me Archie" where it stayed for the next two days until I went in again to buy the album. The album's got some pretty chill tracks on it and it definitely gets you ready to slip into Fall (which I love).

The band is based out of Canada and contribute to the indie pop genre. They released their first album July 2014. Check them out on Sound Cloud if you haven't already.

In cubicle world, I finally did my own tax return for last year today. New Music Tuesday = that's the only productive thing I'll do today....
